What’s cooking on #PasquaWednesdays?! 👩🍳 🥣
Our Poplar & Willow classroom have started their learning adventure on the continent of Europe! This week, focusing on the country of Italy 🇮🇹 they are learning the history of pizza 🍕 😋!
Our Saplings classroom has just wrapped their unit on the senses! Topping it with everyone’s favourite, apple butter 🍎 🍏! As they close their five senses unit they are onto a rawring good time, focusing on dinosaurs! 🦕 🦖
Did you know that teaching children to cook has SO MANY benefits?! Boosting confidence & independence, developing fine motor skills, fostering creativity, and encourages teamwork just to name a few 🤯!
Always something to taste test here at the Pasqua Campus! 👋🏻 👅

Let’s talk, Graded Geometric Figures! 🔴🔷🟥
This activity is found in the Sensorial Area of the classroom and involves sets of shapes in varying sizes and colours. They are used to teach our students about geometry and helps them develop visual discrimination. 👀
The possibilities are endless from ordering the shapes from largest to smallest, to creating their own patterns; we are preparing them for future more challenging mathematics, geometry, and art! They even build up those fine motor skills! 🔸🟠

#MayfieldThursdays hello 👋🏻
Here at Mayfield, our Birch classroom has been exploring thankfulness and gratitude. This past month, students have been working on their Thankfulness Trees everyday. Each student picked something that they are grateful for and wrote it on the leaf. After colouring in their leaves and branches, they have completed a thoughtful, meaningful, and beautiful piece of artwork to take home and share with their families.
Along with our grace and courtesy values in Montessori, this activity helped our students work on their fine motor skills, word recognition, spelling, creativity and so much more!

✨ Another #HillsdaleTuesdays featuring our Seedlings class in the Creative Arts program! The children have been exploring all kinds of lines: straight lines, zigzag lines, wavy lines, and freeform lines! Through various activities, they’ve been strengthening their fine motor skills while having fun.
They practiced cutting straight lines to make their “scissor salad,” created a line collage by pasting their cut pieces, followed zigzag lines to make tree branches, and did blow art to form their creative lines! 🌈
As this group has already shown readiness for these skills, our Seedlings head educator took the opportunity to extend their learning. These activities build important pre-writing skills: developing dexterity, hand–eye coordination, muscle memory, concept understanding, impulse control, and creativity. ✍️🎨

Exploration of the Trinomial Cube! The cube is composed of 27 pieces in different colours (red, blue, yellow, and black) shapes. The goal is to arrange the pieces to form a specific pattern within the box. The lid is the guide and acts as a “control” for correct assembly. When completed correctly, the cube has the same finished pattern on all sides 🤯!
When our students successfully complete the lesson and assemble the cube, they gain understanding of the expansion of a trinomial cubed, which prepares them for later abstract mathematical work. This amazing Montessori material refines fine motor skills, enhances concentration, and strengthens problem-solving skills.

This week our grade 5 to 8 students had the opportunity to stop by the School of Rock studio for the first time! 🎶
MSR Elementary is very excited to be collaborating with School of Rock for an eight-week session from October to December! Our students will learn how to play different rock instruments and will experience what it means to play together as a band! 🎸🥁
A special shoutout to Matt and all the wonderful owners and instructors at @sorregina who are helping to make this opportunity possible for our students! You rock! 🤘

We are in the full fall spirit here at Mayfield Campus! Aspen classroom has been exploring all things leaves through math, art, science, gross motor, sensorial and more. Students have really enjoyed learning about the shapes, classification and vocabulary of different leaves using the botany cabinet.
The Botany cabinet typically holds 18 or more different leaf shape insets in its drawers, along with corresponding cards in solid, thick outline, and thin outline forms. This material allows students to develop their visual discrimination skills, learn to trace leaf shapes, and match them to corresponding leaves in nature.
Did you know?
Regina is recognized as a “Tree City of the World,” a designation awarded by the United Nations and the Arbor Day Foundation. It has been recognized for six consecutive years as of 2025! Regina’s urban forest is home to more than 500,000 hand-planted trees - that’s a lot of leaves!
