Students at Mayfield Campus have been delighted learning all about the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations and traditions. Through stories and meaningful discussions, students explored the significance of red envelopes, traditional clothing, lanterns, and the lunar calendar.
ย
With guidance and cultural insight, Ms Hong helped students discover how families prepare for this special celebration and what the symbols of the holiday represent.
ย
2026 is the Year of the Horse, and our classrooms have been filled with excitement as children learn about the horseโ€™s qualities of energy, strength, and determination while celebrating this joyful and vibrant tradition together.

This wonderful Sensorial activity teaches our students to recognize, match, and discriminate between colours. In box 3, our students are ordering each colour by shade, darkest to lightest.
This beautiful material lays a foundation for future learning in mathematics, language, and even art ๐Ÿคฏ!

This week, MSR Elementary hosted a basketball workshop and were joined by students from Prairie Sky and Curtis-Horne schools! The students had a great time honing their basketball skills through instruction, drills, and games! It was an afternoon of fun and friendly competition! ๐Ÿ€

A special shoutout to the staff who worked so hard to make this happen!

We love connecting with other schools in our community and we canโ€™t wait until the next sports day!

Happy February! Itโ€™s #montessorimonday

๐ŸŒบ ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒผ Flower arranging is a beautiful Practical Life activity that teaches care of the environment, enhances fine motor development, and improves concentration and order. Most importantly, it is a wonderful grace & courtesy lesson bringing the children aesthetic awareness in the classroom.

Our students joyfully celebrated Family Literacy Day on Tuesday with the featured book Salma the Syrian Chef. Inspired by the story, students worked together to prepare and enjoy their own delicious Foul Shami.
ย
This hands-on experience supported storytelling, language development, memory-building, cultural sharing, and a strong sense of belonging. Students discussed the ingredients, explored the cultural background of the dish, and sequenced the steps of the recipeโ€”all while collaborating as a team. Bringing both classrooms together for this shared experience made the celebration even more meaningful.

How did your family celebrate Family Literacy Day?

Yesterday, students from our Aspen and Birch classrooms enjoyed a special visit from Saskatchewan Roughriders Wide Receiver, Dhel Duncan-Busby, who spent time reading a book aloud and talking with them about the importance of literacy, teamwork, and perseverance.
ย
This special visit created an engaging connection between learning and real-life role models, inspiring students to value reading while also seeing how dedication and positive choices extend beyond the classroom and into the wider community.
ย
Big thank you to Dhel, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders Foundation, for providing this fun opportunity for our students!
