Happy Thanksgiving Montessori Families! 🍁 🍂
Happy Thanksgiving Montessori Families! 🍁 🍂 ...
The halls of MSR Elementary smelled delicious this afternoon as our school celebrated our annual Friendsgiving lunch! 🦃🎃🎉
Each classroom spent some time this week preparing a piece of our celebration. From the food to the centerpieces, every bit of our feast was created by our students!
Today we were able to gather in our school community to share the wonderful meal that we created together. We also took some time to think about how lucky we are and all the amazing things that we have!
Thank you so much to our amazing students and teachers for working so hard to put this event together! We are so thankful for everything thing that you do! 🙌
We hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️

🧡National Day for Truth & Reconciliation 🧡
The East Location students are discussing the significance in Canadian History. This year, they are focusing on the culture and language of the Métis people of Saskatchewan. The ‘Seven Sacred Teachings’ align well with the Montessori philosophy and include love, respect, honesty, wisdom, bravery, truth, and humility. The students also created beautiful Métis inspired dot art to extend their hands-on learning and focus study.
Additionally, they are learning about the importance of the ‘Medicine Wheel.’ The Medicine Wheel is a circular symbol divided into four parts or quadrants, which are often associated with four colors: yellow, red, black, and white. It is important to note that different nations have their own teachings about the medicine wheel, based on their unique stories, values, and beliefs. Therefore, there is no single, perfect representation of the medicine wheel. The children are participating, creating, and incorporating the Medicine Wheel in their classroom.
💡 Did you know In Maria Montessori’s philosophy, “culture” refers to a hands-on, holistic curriculum encompassing science, history, geography, art, music, and social responsibility? Designed to help children understand their place in the world, respect diversity, and develop key skills like observation and critical thinking! 🌎 🌍
🧡Together, we are learning, growing, and understanding!🧡

🎶 Today the MSR Elementary Campus was treated to a special violin performance by the exceptionally talented Kerson Leong. 🎶
Following his amazing concert at Darke Hall on Sunday, Kerson Leong stopped by this morning to share his love for music with our students and to play selections from some of his favourite composers. Our students experienced the music of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart while also learning about the violin and its history. 🎻
Thank you so much to the Cecilian Chamber Concert Series for making this opportunity possible!

Our students set personal goals to achieve on their Terry Fox Run on Thursday morning and they worked very hard to meet and even exceed them!
Congratulations to our four campuses on another memorable Terry Fox Walk. Together, we can! 🏃♂️ 💜
