This week, our campus has been learning how to be sun smart! We talked about the importance of wearing hats, applying sunscreen, and drinking plenty of water to keep our bodies safe and healthy while we play outside. Through stories, discussions, art, and daily routines, the students are building independence by taking responsibility for protecting themselves in the sunshine. We are proud of how our little learners are practicing healthy habits and caring for their bodies each day! โ๏ธ๐งข

Nomenclature Cards are a foundational Language material used to build vocabulary and introduce scientific classification. Children use these cards to internalize information through a process of matching and visual discrimination.
There are three different types of cards - the control card, the picture card, and the label card.
There are many key benefits to this Montessori lesson including: vocabulary & literacy, classification skills, independent learning, and visual discrimination.

This week our Middle Elementary class performed with the Regina Symphony Orchestra at the Conexus Arts Centre! ๐ผ๐ถ๐ช
Over the last several months, our grade 3-5s participated in the Link Up: The Orchestra Rocks program with schools from Regina and the surrounding area! During their art classes, students learned how to play recorders, sing, and dance along to a wide variety of famous songs that were specifically selected for this program! Some songs were from ballets and operas. Some were more modern and others were over 500 years old. One was even in Latin! The students worked so hard to prepare these pieces and they were so excited to perform them in a concert with the RSO!
Our students did such an amazing job, and we had so much fun performing! We also learned a lot about music theory, instruments, and the orchestra!
Thank you to the Regina Symphony Orchestra for such an amazing program! We canโt wait until next year!

Our Mayfield campus has been buzzing with excitement this month as we observe our painted lady butterfly larvae. Both classrooms have been joyfully caring for our growing caterpillars, watching closely every day as they eat, rest, and transform through their stages on their way to being beautiful butterflies. Extensions of learning have deepened students understanding through puzzles, anatomy, growth cycles, vocabulary building and so much more!
This hands-on experience supports childrenโs natural curiosity and helps them build a meaningful connection to nature. Releasing the butterflies once they are ready will be a special moment of celebration to end off the school year! Stay tuned ๐๐ฆ

Our hearts are full today as we celebrated our mamas with our milk & cookies ๐ช ๐ฅ with mama event today! Our students and staff worked incredibly hard to celebrate special people in their life! From preparing songs to making cards/gifts and even planting flowers ๐บ the excitement was high at Pasqua today! Thank you for attending our program, you are loved and deserve to be celebrated! For #HillsdaleTuesdays, our Oak classroom has been busy learning hands-on with their sunflower project! The students planted sunflower seeds, talked about what plants need to grow (sun, water, soil, care), and started a plant diary to track their progress. ๐ฑ
Right now, theyโre seeing sprouting stems, fresh new leaves, and roots quietly beginning their work below the soil ๐๐ฟ Safe to say - theyโre growing quickly!!
Itโs full of excitement as they continue watching the sunflowers grow and change each week ๐ป๐

Yesterday, MSR Elementary took us on a journey through Wonderland with their exciting performance of โThrough the Looking Glassโ! ๐ญ๐ชโ๏ธ
๐ฃ A huge shout out to the elementary staff and to the parents and families who helped to support us and make this show a success! And a special thank you to all the students who put so much work into this production for months. They didnโt only sing, dance, and act. They also created the costumes and props, moved set pieces and equipment, covered for others in rehearsals and, most of all, were so kind and supportive to everyone involved. It takes a lot of effort and bravery to do a musical like this and they all did amazing! ๐

๐ This week at MSR Elementary, we had the pleasure of welcoming a very special guest to join us for a day: Albert Awachie, running back for the Saskatchewan Roughriders! ๐
In the morning, he led a literacy workshop with our lower elementary class, talking with our students about the importance of reading. For our middle and senior elementary classes, he spoke about mental health and introduced them to a โgame planโ to help them effectively manage stress. And in the afternoon, he guided our students through an introduction to football, teaching them all about the exciting sport and the basics of the game!
Thank you to Albert Awachie for spending the day with us! Our students were so excited and loved every minute of having you here!
Also, thank you to the Saskatchewan Roughriders Foundation for making opportunities like this possible! This was such a great day!
