This week at MSR elementary, the grade 6-8 students had a special art presentation from Credell Simeon from csCreatives Studio! Our students learned about the importance of sustainability in art and were able to create beautiful paintings using upcycled materials! 🎨🖌️👩🎨

“Like a little butterfly, I learn by exploring the world around me.” 🦋
Our little butterfly larva have undergone their transformation into beautiful little butterflies!
Students were thrilled to see the Painted Lady Butterflies emerged from their pupas when we returned to school on Monday. They have been monitoring and caring for the little creatures every day since we first brought them to school. They are now strong enough to be released into the world for their own adventures.
Bye Bye Butterflies - see you around!

Geometric Solids are a set of 10 three-dimensional wooden shapes used in sensorial and math for our pre-primary students! When exploring Geometric Solids hands-on, our students gain spatial awareness, vocabulary, and even the stereognostic sense! And of course, it’s always more fun with a friend!

Though the weather was fighting us for most of the week, MSR Elementary was finally able to have our planting day! Today our students got their hands dirty and put in our garden for the spring! 🌸🌷🌼
Each classroom has a planter box in the garden and the students are in charge of all aspects of its care. Whether it is clearing the soil, planting the flowers, watering, or weeding, each student puts a lot of care and effort into keeping it beautiful! They also get the chance to learn about the plants and the important role that flowers play in nature! 🌻
We can’t wait to watch our garden grow and thrive as the weather gets warmer! ☀️

Yesterday, students put on their STEM hats and became scientists for the morning!
Students got the opportunity to practice coding with robot mice and answer the big questions of “What, Why, and How?” to understand how the world around them works. A big thank you to the @sasksciencecentre for coming out and leading our campus through some exciting science workshops!

Our Seedlings class transformed shredded paper into beautiful handmade seed paper! The children helped blend soaked shredded paper into pulp, strain the water, mix in seeds and delicate flower petals, and flatten everything with rolling pins.
The excitement on their faces as they watched something old become something new made this activity extra special. ♻️

Our Grade 3–5 students shared their creativity and hard work by showcasing their original stories and country projects in the Grade 1–2 classroom! From exciting tales of princesses and pandas to fascinating facts about China and South Africa, the older students were excited to share their knowledge and passion by creating engaging presentations! Our younger students were delighted to listen and learn, and they were also inspired to create their own! 🌍📚

This week, our campus has been learning how to be sun smart! We talked about the importance of wearing hats, applying sunscreen, and drinking plenty of water to keep our bodies safe and healthy while we play outside. Through stories, discussions, art, and daily routines, the students are building independence by taking responsibility for protecting themselves in the sunshine. We are proud of how our little learners are practicing healthy habits and caring for their bodies each day! ☀️🧢

Nomenclature Cards are a foundational Language material used to build vocabulary and introduce scientific classification. Children use these cards to internalize information through a process of matching and visual discrimination.
There are three different types of cards - the control card, the picture card, and the label card.
