For April Fools Day, students at Mayfield campus enjoyed some fun with homemade “Brown E’s”, themed healthy snacks and a hunt for googly eyes hidden in the classroom that did not belong. The day was filled with silliness, imagination, and shared laughter together!

On #HillsdaleTuesdays, we’re featuring our Seedlings students exploring the world of art with Paul Cézanne! 🍎🍋🎨

Cézanne, a famous post-impressionist painter, is known for his still life artworks. Our little artists used paint and crayons to create their own fruits and sunflowers, discovering colours, shapes, and creativity the Montessori way!

What are the initial sound boxes? Each “box” is labelled with letters and children sort small objects or pictures based on their initial sound. The sound boxes are designed to help children with identifying the first sound in a word, connecting sounds to letters, and helps build a strong foundation for reading and spelling.

Throughout the school year, Birch classroom students have been invited to share special presentations about their cultural experiences with their peers!

These presentations allow the children to engage in purposeful communication, strengthening their expressive language and confidence while speaking before a group. Their peers are able to practice respectful listening, demonstrating patience, curiosity, and appreciation for one another’s experiences.

By sharing these moments together, students are able to learn about different places, cultures, and people, and begin to understand and respect differences, helping them grow as caring and global citizens.

Hillsdale Tuesdays 🍀

A little touch of St. Patrick’s Day in the classroom today — shamrocks, gold coins, and a pop of green.

Simple, hands-on work and a fun way to recognize the day 💚

Did you know our smallest learners use push pins?! Poke-out Shapes in Montessori Education are one of the first lessons our students learn in Pre-Primary! The child uses a push pin to carefully poke along the outline of a shape! Guess what? When complete, the shape pops out of the paper 🤯!

What does this benefit? WELL, it builds several foundational skills such as: fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, prepares for later handwriting, enhances concentration, and helps with shape recognition!

What shapes have your students poked out lately?
