Governance

Montessori School of Regina operates under the governance of a volunteer Board of Directors who share its vision, mission, and values. These reflect the unique character of the community and provide leadership in governance, policy development, and goal-setting for the school.

The Board is a full governance board, focusing on strategic oversight rather than daily operations. Its responsibilities include:

  • Setting MSR’s long-term Strategic Plan and Goals.
  • Establishing policies and the school budget, including tuition fees.
  • Employing and providing guidance to the Head of School.

To fulfill its responsibilities effectively, the Board is supported by several committees: Finance, Facilities, Marketing, Nominations, HR & Governance, Occupational Health and Safety, and Fundraising.

The Head of School oversees MSR’s daily operations, including:

  • Hiring and supervising staff.
  • Leading curriculum development.
  • Collaborating with the Board on policies and procedures.
  • Managing the school’s day-to-day administration and finances.

The Head of School reports directly to the Board of Directors.

All parents and guardians of MSR students are automatic members of the school and are encouraged to participate in its democratic process by attending and voting at the Annual General Meeting typically held in November.
